The Furious(2025)

This was delightfully unhinged. If you loosen up a bit, which the movie will force you to even if you aren’t so inclined, it could be a great experience. The fight choreography of this film is actually out of this world.

Intentional or not, between the undying meat assassin, the homeless punk archer in the squid game costume, the gay cop with a conscience and a literal death grip, and the multiple grown adult men that bite people, the way this film completely dispenses with the rules of reality was extremely funny. Actually, the scenes where the movie tries to be the tiniest bit of serious are probably the ones that hurt it the most -- some of the lines were so cheesy that they were painful to sit through. They should have done without those.

Similar to the John Wick movies, this is a movie about crashing out. Also extremely funny is the way the writers of the film crashed the fuck out about how they couldn't say anything about the Chinese police. Very clear that put all their pent-up frustration into making the police look hilariously both corrupt and incompetent in this unspecified Southeast Asian country. Good for them.
