Splitsville (2025)

★★★½

Splitsville is a riot. It’s absolutely hilarious: many actual belly-laugh moments. It’s engaging: constantly subverting your expectations in clever ways. Most importantly, despite the sheer absurdity of the plot and its completely mental characters, it commits, and delivers.

Dakota Johnson continues to play the same character from everything she’s ever been in, but her screen presence proves to be perfect for comedy. She is so grounding when things get too chaotic yet can be so effortlessly unhinged and so fun to watch. Both male leads (also co-writer and director) are wonderful as well and very much punch above their weight in their acting. Pleasantly surprised to see Greg here, playing another character that is not a clown in name only. Also, just the appropriate amount of male nudity - I appreciate.

I always thought polyamorous relationships demanded more commitment and maturity from each participant than monogamy. Splitsville teaches us that if that is too tall an order, you can also make it work by being equally insane. Truly an inspiring message
