Send Help (2026)

★★★

This was a great riff on Triangle of Sadness, though instead of a focus on class, Send Help focuses on power dynamics in a more private and intimate setting in less garrulous way.

Instead relying on a well-conducted ensemble, this film fully leans into the star power of Rachel McAdams. This is great if you are a Rachel McAdams fan like me, who can watch her throw up on her bitch boss for indefinite amount of time, but its flaws are just as salient. Rachel as Linda is not only wonderfully unhinged, but also a well fleshed out character, but the same cannot be said of any other character, all rendered as plot devices that revolve around her, whose choices and executive function fall apart entirely upon examination.

At least the film knew to paper over this flaw with Dylan O’Brien’s irresistible puppy face, but it ends up making Bradley very inconveniently sympathetic, so much so that it made parts of the film a little harder to enjoy. Though I must admit, I was at least a little turned on when he was bound and paralyzed. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just me.
