Resurrection (2025)
★★½
Avant-garde, delirious (literally), and macabre, Resurrection is an enigmatic collection of unevenly compelling story that mostly fail to construct a cohesive narrative. Friends and I left the theater confused and not moved. We all had some vague sense of what this movie is about, but by and large unmoved and sometimes amused when that probably wasn’t the intention.
In many ways this is the point of the movie. Stories, (maybe much like life) do not have to make sense. It’s more enjoyable once you give up on trying to understand it and simply try to feel the vibes, for the cinematography really is gorgeous. In that sense, it really did need to be as long as it is.
