Die My Love (2025)

★★½

Jennifer Lawrence is always at her best when she plays someone mildly insane, or in this case, very insane. I really wanted to like this movie, but while Grace is one of the most unhinged characters I’ve seen in a while, she’s not unhinged in the way I’m tempted to be, so the catharsis is not there, only endless visceral embarrassment.

There was someone in the audience who kept talking very loudly during the movie with the person they were sitting next to. It was annoying to the point I was starting to feel like I was having some king of immersive theater experience. Like Grace is right here in the room with us. I almost yelled out “Grace, is that you?” when the person said “More popcorn?” during a scene that was supposed to be very quiet and intimate. When the movie was over, I turned around to see who it was. Turned out it was this man with a very obvious developmental disorder and his caretaker. Thank god I didn’t say anything 😅
