you may be tempted to put on this movie on a tuesday night at home because you heard good things and it’s been on your list but then end up scrolling on your film throughout the movie. don’t.

find a small art house theater near you and watch it with a room packed full of lesbians during the holiday season like the way it’s meant to be enjoyed. 

so much of this movie was lost on me when i watched it on a laptop in my college dorm, like the street lights that always light up therese’s path and deliver her in carol’s direction. and luckily for her there is nothing that can make someone lost and adrift feel more grounded than cate blanchette smiling at you across the room (or asking you to move in with her
