Babygirl (2024)

bold, provocative, and layered. the suspension of disbelief required here is high - you do need to check everything you know about how to interact with people at work (or in general really) at the door to be able to enjoy this movie. for the first 20 mins of the movie i was unprepared and watching it was so cringey felt like torture 

bdsm is front and center in this movie, but it goes much deeper than that. it really tries to explore the power dynamics of almost every relationship you can think of: boss and intern, boss and direct reports, husband and wife, man and woman in romantic relationships, man and woman in professional relationships, and of course s & m. layer all of this together and you have some really riveting drama that’s also thought- provoking.

did i mention it is also unexpectedly funny? anyway, i would recommend a watch. you may not like it, especially if you cannot manage the suspension of disbelief i mentioned earlier, but it will make for an unforgettable viewing experience nonetheless.
